A Lost Day…
This was my view as we arrived at Shangi airport in Singapore something like 13 hours after leaving London…
4 hours later it was wheels up again and a 7ish hour flight to Melbourne.
Sunrise, above the clouds, over Melbourne…
I arrived at 7am, and after all those hours, appreciated that immigration, luggage reclaim and customs were all very quick and easy and then… finally… I was outside and breathing fresh air ~ cool, early autumn morning in the rain air, which was fantastic!
A quick Skybus transfer deposited me at Southern Cross station to be met, a couple of minutes’ later, by my little sis, Em!!! ❤
It was 8am Wednesday and somehow with the fun of traversing half the globe and crossing numerous time zones, I’d ‘lost’ Tuesday! We couldn’t check into the Airbnb til 3pm, and not even deposit the luggage til 9, so there was nothing for it but to visit a coffee shop ~ something Melbourne is famous for.
After vitals and abandoning cases, we spent 7 hours exploring… not that I was tired or anything! We wandered some of the famous Laneways with their street art; viewed Australian art at the Ian Potter Centre ~ an eclectic mix of First Nation and Colonial art;
Love the orange hi-vis and the orange umbrellas in Federation Square…
We explored stunning Victorian and Art Deco arcades; stopped for coffee; meandered the streets; took in the tiny museum in a 19th Century Shot Tower, now located in the middle of a shopping mall and accessed via a clothes shop!; and enjoyed the stunning views from the dome of Victoria State Library ~ internal views over the gorgeous reading room, and saw Ned Kelly’s armour….
Not bad in one tired day!! We are now ensconced in an amazing Airbnb apartment, on the 29th floor, with lovely views, showered and drinking bubbles to celebrate being together… a good start me thinks!
So here’s a few snaps of today…

How lovely for you to be reunited with Em. Enjoy your time together. Great pics xx
